This fall, Warner Bros. Games Montréal is taking players back to The Dark Knight’s beginnings with Batman: Arkham Origins, a prequel to the Arkham Asylum and Arkham City titles.
Batman: Arkham Origins will be released for the Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. A companion game, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, will be sold for the Nintendo 3DS and Vita. Both versions go on sale Oct. 25.
Batman: Arkham Origins takes place “before the rise of Gotham City’s most dangerous criminals, [and] showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight,” game developer WB Games Montréal said in a statement. “As the story unfolds, players will meet many important characters for the first time and forge key relationships.”
As noted by Game Informer, which first reported(Opens in a new window) the news, WB Games Montréal takes over for Rocksteady Studios on Batman: Arkham Origins. Rocksteady handled(Opens in a new window) Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

Part of that team is creative director Eric Holmes, known for his work on The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype, Game Informer reported.
“WB Games Montreal is honored to have the opportunity to create [Origins], a new chapter in this amazing franchise,” executive producer Reid Schneider said in a statement. “We are huge fans of the franchise and are committed to creating an experience that offers players more of what they love, as well as the chance to play as a younger Batman within a fresh storyline and expanded world.”
