If you’d like a bit more screen real estate on your laptop, but want to remain mobile and keep your bag weight down, Lenovo has a new portable monitor it would like you to consider. It includes the added bonus of doubling as a touch-screen input device either using your fingers or the included pen.

The ThinkVision M14t(Opens in a new window) is Lenovo’s latest mobile monitor is aimed at being as portable as possible while also potentially doubling the amount of screen you have to play with and replacing the need to carry a tablet around. It’s a 14-inch Full HD panel complete with 10-point touch functionality (4.096 levels of pressure) and 300 nits of brightness. Lenovo also includes an active pen for touch input, a sleeve, and a tilt and height-adjustable kickstand.

Connection to a laptop is handled via a USB-C cable (no software required) attached to one of the two available USB-C ports on the M14t. Power Pass-Through allows two devices to be powered at once (meaning you can also attach the M14t to a power outlet and then to your laptop to recharge it). You aren’t limited to using the display with a laptop, as the video above reveals; it can be hooked up to a phone, too.

The potential for eye strain with the M14t is reduced thanks to TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light technology. There’s also on-screen controls available via a menu for tweaking the brightness, contrast, and rotation options, although the display will automatically switch rotation when necessary.

At $449, the M14t certainly isn’t cheap, but you get an extra 14-inch display that includes a pen, can replace the need to carry around a tablet for drawing, and it only weighs 698 grams. You’ve got until the launch window of September to convince yourself you really don’t need one of these mobile monitors in your bag.
