Oculus Rift PC Bundles Available for Pre-Order Feb. 16

Planning to get an Oculus Rift? If so, you’ll also need a PC with the computing power required to run the virtual reality headset, which will soon be available to pre-order.

Oculus VR on Tuesday unveiled the first Oculus Rift PC bundles, which will be available for pre-order starting Feb. 16 at 11 a.m. ET from Best Buy, Amazon, and the Microsoft Store. The bundles start at $1,499 (as expected) and include an “Oculus-certified PC” from either Asus, Alienware, or Dell plus everything that comes with the Rift — the headset, sensor, remote, an Xbox One controller, and two games: EVE: Valkyrie Founder’s Pack and Lucky’s Tale.

“These PCs have been battle tested and certified by Oculus to deliver an incredible Rift experience,” the Oculus team wrote in a blog post(Opens in a new window).

Those who have already pre-ordered the Rift  will get a discount on these Oculus-endorsed PCs “in select countries and regions.” To claim the discount, check your order status and opt into partner offers if you haven’t already. After doing so, you should see offer codes appear on your order status page Feb. 16.

“To get the full Rift experience, you’ll need a PC that meets or exceeds our recommended system specifications(Opens in a new window),” the Oculus team wrote. The company has put together a compatibility tool(Opens in a new window) to help you check whether your current machine is ready for the Rift. Just download the tool and it will automatically test your computer against the recommended system specs.
