Samsung this week revealed its CES home entertainment lineup, which also includes a Smart TV”Smart Control,” as well as “the world’s biggest(Opens in a new window)” 110-inch 4K (Ultra HD) TV.
If you feel like your living room is missing something, but can’t quite figure out what, maybe Samsung can help. Its expanded entertainment roster(Opens in a new window) comes with new multi-room offerings and wireless integration to fit its new massive television set.
Two weeks ago, Samsung revealed a 105-inch curved Ultra HD TV. This week, it revealed a 110-inch Ultra HD set without a curve which has already garnered 10 pre-orders from Middle Eastern customers despite a $150,000 price tag.
“The 110-inch TV has already been attracting attention from VVIP [very very important people] customers around the world,” Visual Display Vice President Simon Sung said. “With the existing 55-, 65-, and 85-inch UHD TVs, the brand new 110-inch product will solidify Samsung’s dominance in the global UHD TV markets.”
Crowned the “world’s largest commercial Ultra High Definition TV,” the movie-screen-like set boasts an 800-megapixel display, and will go on sale in China, the Middle East, and Europe beginning Jan. 30.
But watching an enormous, tech-infused TV set is no fun without a correspondingly smart controller. So, Samsung has included the updated “Smart Control”(Opens in a new window) (right) in its new lineup, promising faster and more accurate control features, better content selection, and an improved design.
Sporting gesture recognition, a new button console, and a touch pad, the Smart Control also includes Voice Interaction functionality in its elongated oval design.
If you’re looking to simply upgrade your TV’s sound system, Samsung is introducing a number of new options which build on last year’s Samsung Shape Wireless Audio Multiroom System.
For the uninitiated, the entry-level M5 speaker can be used alone or wirelessly with other Samsung products, while the Sound Bar and Sound Stand fit seamlessly under a TV to enhance surround sound and bass.
Those looking for something more high-tech may opt for Samsung’s MX-HS8500 GIGA Sound System “the world’s first component audio system to integrate the main system and speakers.”
Or perhaps the Samsung HT-H7730WM Blu-ray Home Entertainment System (left), which is the 110-inch TV set of the speaker world. The one-of-a-kind 7.1 channel system with virtual 9.1 channels houses Carbon Nano Tube speakers that combine with Vacuum Tube Digital Amplification to provide warm, natural, and powerful sound.
“Samsung’s latest additions in audio technology give consumers big, high-quality sound that is easy to incorporate into their entertainment experience,” Jim Kiczek, Samsung’s director of digital audio and video, said in a statement. “This year’s lineup will deliver not only great sound and breakthrough design but also the flexibility of wireless support to take the home entertainment experience to the next level.”

In the non-home-entertainment realm, Samsung also unveiled its new NX30 and Galaxy Camera 2, both of which will make an appearance at CES in Las Vegas. The 20-megapixel APS-C mirrorless NX30 features a vari-angle 3-inch AMOLED display and a built-in EVF. It’s modest sibling, the Galaxy Camera 2, sports a 16-megapixel image sensor and 21x lens, with some software improvements like more Smart shooting modes and better exposure and focus control.
Pricing and availability for the cameras and lenses has not yet been announced.
