Want Bose Headphones? Don’t Check the Apple Store

Looking to pick up a pair of Bose headphones? Don’t bother checking the Apple Store.

Now that Apple’s love affair with Beats is in full force, the Cupertino tech giant is officially breaking up with Bose. Head over to the Apple Online Store and you’ll see a wide range of Beats headphones and speakers(Opens in a new window) for sale, but nothing from Bose.

Until last week, products like the Bose SoundLink Mini and QuietComfort ($229.00 at Amazon)(Opens in a new window) headphones were still listed for sale on Apple’s site. The devices have also been removed from some brick-and-mortar Apple Stores, 9to5Mac reported(Opens in a new window).

Apple is reportedly planning to completely remove all Bose products in its retail stores and Web store. On the surface, the move makes sense. Now that Apple has completed its acquisition of Beats, it doesn’t make much sense for the company to also sell products from rival Bose.

The move also comes after Beats and Bose earlier this month settled a patent dispute(Opens in a new window). Bose agreed to dismiss the lawsuit it filed against Beats in July, where it alleged Beats infringed on a number of the company’s patents related to noise-cancelling technology.

Beats filed the lawsuit soon after Apple in late May announced that it was acquiring Beats for approximately $3 billion. Bose was asking the court to ban sales of Beats Studio and Studio Wireless ( at Amazon)(Opens in a new window) headsets as a result of the alleged infringement.

Apple will reportedly also remove Fitbit devices(Opens in a new window) from the Apple Store to make room for its own Apple Watch wearable.
