3D printers can make just about anything (even guns), but now they can also make your Star Wars fantasies come true.
Disney’s “D-Tech Me” experience is returning this weekend(Opens in a new window), which will allow park visitors to 3D print a Stormtrooper with their face on it or – once again – freeze themselves in carbonite.
In 10 minutes, “the world’s highest-resolution, single shot 3D face scanner” analyzes your face and sends the resulting image to a high-resolution 3D printer to create a figurine featuring your likeness, Disney said.
The Star Wars D-Tech me experience will set you back $99.95, plus shipping, though Disney will also throw in a free Carbon-Freeze Me light-up band or Star Wars collector button. It will arrive at your home within 7-8 weeks. Disney first introduced(Opens in a new window) “Carbon-Freeze Me” last year, allowing visitors to freeze themselves in carbonite just like Hans Solo in The Empire Strikes Back (check out the video below for more), and now they’ve added the Stormtrooper option.
The experience is open to those visiting Disney Hollywood Studios(Opens in a new window), one of four Disney theme parks in Orlando, Florida. It is part of Star Wars Weekends(Opens in a new window), which kicked off on Friday and will also happen May 24 – 26, May 31 – June 2, and June 7 – 9.
For your own piece of Star Wars history, call 407-WDW-TECH (407-939-8324) to ask about availability, and then head to Darth’s Mall within the courtyard adjacent to the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
