Dynamism, a boutique vendor of select laptops, tablets, and gadgets, has opened up a 3D printing storefront(Opens in a new window) on its website. In addition to a section offering 3D printers made by Makerbot, 3D Systems, PP3DP, Type A Machines, and Printrbot (as well as the Leonar3do “Bird” 3D mouse) for sale, the site provides information, images, and videos covering the essentials of 3D printing, as well as links to related software and object file download sites.

Dynamism, founded in 1997, sells notebooks and tablets through Dynamism.com, and Japanese consumer gadgets, toys, and fashion accessories through its Gizmine.com site. The 3D printing section is part of the main Dynamism.com site.

3D printer models available on Dynamism’s site include the Makerbot Replicator and Replicator 2X; the 3D Systems Cube 3D Printer and CubeX; the PP3DP Up! mini and Up! Plus 2; and the Type A Machines Series 1, and the Printrbot Simple, Jr., LC/V2, and Plus/V2 (each in assembled or kit versions). Prices tend to be the same as offered by the manufacturer, and Dynamism provides unlimited technical support. The Leonar3do Kit combines the Bird 3D mouse and software that lets artists create and modify objects in 3 dimensions.

The Explore 3D Printing page materials provides general resources on the subject. Videos demonstrate 3D printing in action, describe how it works, and predict what the future will hold for this exciting new field. A slideshow depicts the range of plastic objects that can be produced with 3D printers. Text describes different aspects of 3D printing, including the differences between ABS and PLA plastic, and between heated and non-heated print beds. Links include software such as Slic3r, Blender, and Sketchup; object file download sites such as the Thingiverse, and 3D printing services like Shapeways.
