Apple has been at it again. CEO Tim Cook and other Apple executives have announced a raft of new product updates at a hardware event in New York. It is the company’s second batch of hardware launched in as many months.

Cook and colleagues unveiled a new MacBook Air, its thinnest yet; an updated Mac Mini; and the third generation of its iPad Pro. Here’s a roundup of everything Apple announced.

Apple first introduced the MacBook Air – one of its thinnest laptops – back in 2010. But the most recent version hasn’t been updated since 2017.

As a result, the new MacBook Air revealed by Apple in New York has some big changes. First, and the most noticeable, is less bezel. The aluminum bezel around the 13.3-inch screen has been reduced by 50 per cent. There’s a FaceTime camera in the top of the screen and four million pixels on the new retina display.

The laptop measures 15.6mm when closed and weighs 1.2kg. Apple says this is a just over 100g lighter than the previous version of the Air and that it has used 100 per cent recycled aluminium on the device’s case.

Inside, there’s an 8th generation CPU, space for up to 16GB of RAM and a 1.5TB SSD hard-drive. Apple has built TouchID into the laptop. This means that you can use your fingerprint to unlock the device and to login to apps that support biometric authentication. The trackpad is also 20 per cent larger.
