The last few years have changed the way we work, and the tech around us is quickly evolving to accommodate our new workflows, including what seems like endless video conferencing. This new hybrid-work reality is on the minds of just about every manufacturer at CES 2022, including Dell, which offered PCMag a sneak peak of its new UltraSharp 32 4K Video Conferencing Monitor in the lead-up to the show.
The revolutionary new monitor’s bells and whistles aim to enhance your video conferencing experience, including what Dell says is the first intelligent 4K webcam on a 31.5-inch monitor. It’s also the first monitor in its class to make use of IPS Black panel tech. Let’s take a look.
A Productivity Powerhouse
The intelligent webcam nestled at the top of the monitor includes a 4K HDR Sony CMOS sensor and a multi-element lens, which together deliver crystal-clear images and can record 4K video at 30 frames per second (fps). You’ll be able to customize how much of your surroundings you want to show by adjusting the field of view to 65, 75, or 90 degrees. And you can even physically tilt the camera by up to 20 degrees.
The dual echo-cancelling microphones and twin 14-watt speakers have been repositioned to the top of the monitor, flanking the webcam. Dell claims that repositioning the speakers and microphone to ear level allows for optimal audio whether you’re listening or presenting.

The monitor is also Microsoft Teams-certified, with a dedicated button located on the quick-access touch panel at the bottom of the screen. Pressing the Teams button automatically launches the collaboration app, and lets you join meetings. Along the touch-enabled control panel, you’ll also find some handy privacy features, including SafeShutter, which automatically enables and disables the camera.

The 4K Video Conferencing Monitor also comes with an extensive productivity hub that includes a large variety of ports, easily accessible along the backside of the monitor.

But the UltraSharp 32 4K Video Conferencing Monitor isn’t all work and no play. Thanks to the IPS Black technology, you can enjoy brighter colors and deeper blacks with a contrast ratio of 2,000:1, double the ratio of a normal IPS panel. Couple that with VESA Display HDR 400, and you can expect higher color fidelity in low light, as well as wide viewing angles.
You won’t have to wait long to try out the video conferencing monitor yourself—the UltraSharp 32 4K Video Conferencing Monitor will hit store shelves on March 29. Dell has not yet announced pricing.
