HP’s Omen line of desktops and laptops are a sign that the top PC maker is ready for the upcoming onslaught of 4K and virtual reality PC games.

To that end, HP has unified gaming PCs under the Omen brand acquired from VoodooPC a decade ago. These gaming systems come with prominent Omen tribal mask logos, high-performance components, and a full line of systems from affordable to high end.

The Omen gaming desktop leverages the case introduced with the Envy Phoenix line, but now a prominent Omen logo replaces the HP one. The systems also feature new technologies like USB-C and VR-ready Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Founder Edition and AMD Radeon R9 390X graphics. Since this is a gaming system, unlocked Intel Core i7 processors with overclocking capabilities are a natural fit; multiple drives and multiple-monitor support are also options.

Omen by HPOne such monitor is sure to be the Omen by HP 32-inch display, boasting Quad HD (2,560 by 1,440) resolution and AMD FreeSync technology for smoother gameplay when paired with an AMD Radeon R9 graphics card. Pricing is still to be determined.

The Omen desktop and companion Omen by HP 32 display will be available in August.

4K gaming goes portable with 15.6- and 17.3-inch HP Omen laptops. Both lines include up to Nvidia GTX 965M graphics and sixth-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors. Full HD (1,920-by-1,080) and 4K (3,840-by-2,160) resolution displays are available across the line, along with an optional Intel RealSense camera for Windows Hello and gesture gaming controls.

Both systems will be available on July 10, with a starting price of $899.99 for the 15-inch model, and $979.99 for the 17-inch laptop.

HP has flirted with VoodooPC branding for years. But as the Envy brand transitions over to non-gaming consumer PCs, HP hopes that the unified Omen brand is as lucrative and prestigious as the Alienware brand has been for Dell. As PC gaming enters its next phase with VR and 4K, here’s hoping that a clearer branding message will let consumers know what they need to ensure an enjoyable gaming experience.
