Lenovo on Tuesday unveiled a pair of “VR-ready,” compact desktop PCs, which will definitely garner some double takes from your friends.
The IdeaCentre Y710 Cube (above) and IdeaCentre AIO Y910 (right), revealed at Gamescom, both sport “minimalist form factors” designed for gamers who don’t want to be confined to their desk. Case in point: the Y710 Cube comes with a built-in carry handle and weighs just 16 pounds.
Crammed inside is up to a sixth-gen Intel i7 CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics, 32GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 256GB SSD or 2TB hard disk. Those specs will let players “confidently handle 4K gaming, VR, and high-quality streaming,” Lenovo promised(Opens in a new window).
The AIO Y910, meanwhile, is an all-in-one, built entirely within a 27-inch 2,560-by-1,440 borderless monitor (meaning you won’t have to mess with cluttered cables) with the same specs as the Y710 Cube. It also boasts an easily detachable back panel, allowing for “one-step access” to its components for those of you who like to continually tweak your system.
As for US pricing and availability, the Y710 Cube starts at $1,299.99 while the AIO Y910 starts at $1,799.99. Both models for the US are VR-ready with GeForce GTX 1070 graphics and are slated to go on sale in October.
“With VR, live streaming, and lifelike visuals that dwarf consoles, PC gamers have completely new ways to experience and immerse themselves in games today,” Senior Vice President for Lenovo’s PC and smart device business group, Johnson Jia, said in a statement. “Our new IdeaCentre Y710 Cube and IdeaCentre AIO Y910 gaming desktops are the products of years of listening to the growing ways and places in which gamers choose to play, giving them even more freedom with these unique, space-saving forms.”
