LG Electronics is set to unveil its first Google Chrome-based all-in-one desktop computer at CES in January.

An Apple iMac-look-alike, the LG Chromebase (Model 22CV241) packs the Chrome operating system into a 21.5-inch widescreen full HD IPS display, which LG said was designed with efficiency and space-saving in mind.

“LG Chromebase is the wave of the future for desktops, expected to be widely adopted not only at home, but especially in schools, hotels, call centers and other business settings,” Hyoung-sei Park, head of the IT Business Division at LG, said in a statement(Opens in a new window).

The all-in-one machine runs an Intel Celeron CPU processor, 2GB of internal memory, and 16GB iSSD storage. The Chrome Web Store also serves as a gateway to tens of thousands of apps, including Gmail, Drive, Search, Maps, YouTube, Play, and Google+ Hangouts. The computer’s 178-degree adjustable viewing angle also makes for simple video chatting via the 1.3-megapixel front camera.

“LG’s Chromebase is an exciting new form factor that expands the options available to customers who want a fast, simple and secure computing experience for the home, school or office,” said Caesar Sengupta, vice president of Google product management. “LG Electronics makes great devices that customers love, and we’re glad to welcome them to the Chrome family.”

Those at CES 2014 in Las Vegas next month can stop by LG’s booth to check out the new computer, which does not yet have a price tag or expected launch date.

The all-in-one desktop may pale in comparison to the electronic giant’s first Ultra HD curved TV, which will also be at CES. The 105-inch top-of-the-line television set is “officially the largest curved TV ever made,” LG said today, though Samsung may beg to differ. LG’s 105UB9 LCD TV has a 21:9 aspect ratio and boasts a 5,120-by-2,160 screen resolution — 11 million pixels, for those counting.

Most Chrome OS-based devices, meanwhile, have come in laptop form, or Chromebooks, save for the Samsung Series 3 Chromebox nettop. Dell plans to release the 11.6-inch Dell Chromebook 11 next month, while Acer last month unveiled its first touch-screen Chromebook, the 11.6-inch C720P, which sells for $299.
