Silent as a Mouse: Logitech Offers New Options for Click Haters

[ad_1]

Does your mouse have a seal of approval from the Noise Abatement Society? Logitech’s new M330 Silent Plus does.

Together with its sibling, the M220 Silent, these new mice aim to solve a problem we’re betting you didn’t know you had: annoying clicks. Yes, Logitech is marketing its silent mice squarely at the young creative types who toil away at their desks nudged tightly against their neighbors’ in co-working offices. And, perhaps, university students writing term papers in the library.

At $25 for the M220 and just $5 more for its sibling, they aren’t going to please gamers who need ultra-precise tracking and oodles of customizable buttons. But their price tags are low enough that anyone even remotely concerned about click noise would have little reason to chose other entry-level mice.

Both include a nano receiver with up to 33 feet of range, and are compatible with with Windows, Mac, Chrome, or Linux PCs. The M220 has 18-month battery life and an ambidextrous design, while the M330 adds a 24-month battery and a contoured grip for right-handed users.

As for their performance, Logitech claims a 90 percent noise reduction without losing the satisfying feel of a click. Underneath, they use the same optical tracking technology found in other Logitech entry-level models.

The M330 will go on sale in September, with the M220 following a month later. But Logitech isn’t the first company to appease those for whom clicks are annoying. Peripheral and component manufacturer Nexustek(Opens in a new window) also sells several silent mice, including some wired models and others that cater to gamers with adjustable DPI settings.
