We realize that your school-age children and college-age young adults are just wrapping up their 2012-2013 school year, but since computers are far from impulse purchases, Toshiba has announced updated models for the 2013-2014 school year.

Toshiba is releasing new Satellite P (entertainment/performance) and Satellite S laptops (upscale mainstream), Qosmio X75 laptops (gaming performance rigs), and a touch-based PX35t all-in-one desktop PC.

All of the new PCs run Windows 8, and most have touch screens to take advantage of the new OS.

The Satellite P laptops are aimed at the high-end multimedia consumer, and as such they are being offered with 4th-generation Intel Core processors, including new Core i7 processors, up to 1TB hard drives, up to 32GB of system memory, and optional Nvidia GeForce GT 740M graphics. The Satellite P laptops will feature Toshiba’s new unified design ID, with rounded corners and similar styling details shared with the Satellite S, Qosmio X75, and PX35t AiO. Satellite P will come in Prestige Silver aluminum, have edge-to-edge glass on 15.6- or 17.3-inch screens (optional touch on the 15.6-inch models), and Harman Kardon speakers with DTS Studio Sound. The Satellite P’s HDMI port also supports running 4k displays for higher than HD visuals and computing. Satellite P will be available exclusively at Best Buy on June 9, starting at $754.99.

Satellite S shares many of the Satellite P’s features, but with a darker Ice Silver color scheme. Satellite S is available in three sizes: 14-, 15.6-, or 17.3-inch screens with a mix of touch and regular screens.

The 15.6-inch and 17.3-inch models have a Full HD option, while standard resolution for the 14-inch is 1,366 by 768. The Satellite S systems can be equipped with 4th-gen Intel Core processors, up to 1TB hard drives, up to 16GB of system memory, and optional Nvidia GeForce GT 740M discrete graphics. The Satellite S series will be available June 9 at various retailers and online at ToshibaDirect.com. Satellite S systems with 4th-gen Intel Core will start at $799.99 with 3rd-gen Core available at $699.99.

Toshiba’s Qosmio X75 laptops are gaming rigs, through and through. As such they come in a black and red chassis for a Black Widow theme, but still with the rounded corners. Red backlit keys and a full numeric keypad complete the look. Qosimo X75 can be equipped with 4th-gen Intel Core i7 processors, up to 32GB of system memory, dual drive capability with up to 1.25TB of storage included SSD+HDD options, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 770M gaming-class graphics. Qosmio X75 also includes a full copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 and Adobe Premiere Elements 11, which will look great on the system’s 17.3-inch screen. Blu-ray, HDMI 4k support, and four built-in Harman Kardon speakers means that the Qosmio X75 is ready for gaming or watching movies. The Qosmio X75 will be available in mid-June, starting at $1,399.99.

Last, but not least, the Toshiba PX35t all-in-one desktop is a 23-inch multimedia center. It comes with a full 1080p HD screen, 10-finger touch, and the Windows 8 operating system. Like the other systems here, the PX35t has Harman Kardon speakers and DTS sound. The PX35t can be equipped with a 4th-gen Intel Core i3. I5, or i7 processor, up to 16GB of memory, and up to 1TB of hard drive storage. The PX35t comes with an HDMI-in port for extended usability with a cable box, game console, or another PC. The PX35t is available in mid-June with a $1,029.99 starting price.
