Razer has just taken the wraps off the new Blade gaming laptop, and the ultraportable gaming machine is looking better than ever.

The new 2015 model of the Razer Blade is built with the same slim dimensions and aluminum chassis as last year’s Razer Blade 2014($2,999.11 at Amazon)(Opens in a new window), with a few upgrades incorporating new hardware. The portable gaming system may look like a 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro($545.99 at Amazon)(Opens in a new window) with a black paintjob, but the Blade has consistently proven it can stand on its own merits since its introduction in 2012.

The slim system is outfitted with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 970M graphics card, which brings Nvidia’s Maxwell architecture to laptops. The new GPU offers better graphics along with new features like Multi-Frame Anti-Aliasing (MFAA), support for Voxel Global Illumination (VXGI) technology, and Nvidia’s BatteryBoost for longer battery life while still providing a high-quality gaming experience.

The new Blade also features a 2.6GHz Razer Blade 2015
Intel Core i7-4720HQ quad-core processor, with 16GB of RAM. The system can be configured with up to a 512GB solid-state drive (SSD) offering both storage capacity and speedy performance. Port selection is also good, with three USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI out port, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi for wireless connectivity.

Carried over from the previous 2014 iteration are features like an Indium Gallium Zinc Oxide (IGZO) display panel, a QHD+ display with 3,200-by-1,800 resolution. It also has a touch-capable display with 10-point multi-touch, a feature that’s still uncommon in gaming laptops. Both the keyboard and trackpad have been optimized for gaming, with a gaming keyboard that has full anti-ghosting, adjustable backlight, and programmable keys.

The 14-inch laptop measures just 0.7 by 13.6 by 9.3 inches (HWD) and weighs a highly portable 4.47 pounds. Like past models, the aluminum chassis is anodized black, highlighted with bright green USB ports, and glowing accents across the keyboard and a glowing Razer logo on the lid.

The 2015 model of the Razer Blade starts at $2,199 (with 128GB SSD), and is available starting today from Razer.
