Samsung is gearing up to debut its Galaxy S IV smartphone later this month, and you know what that means. Rumors about the device are going into overdrive.

The latest rumor indicates that Samsung is planning to release its next-gen Galaxy phone in six different variants. The Galaxy S IV will come in black and white color options, and users will be able to choose from three different size capacities: 16GB, 32GB, and the much-discussed 64GB version, Samsung fan site SamMobile reported(Opens in a new window), citing an “insider.”

As the site pointed out, storage isn’t really an issue on Samsung devices, since they typically come with a MicroSD card slot.

Though Samsung had originally announced the Galaxy S III in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB variants, the 64GB model was not available at launch. Months after the current flagship Galaxy made its debut, rumors began swirling that Samsung was planning to nix the 64GB version, but the tech giant promised to release it in international markets during the second half of 2012. Here’s hoping the 64GB Galaxy S IV will be more widely available.

Meanwhile, as for other specs, the Galaxy S IV is rumored to have a 4.99-inch, 1080p screen, an Exynos 5 eight-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, and 2-megapixel front-facing shooter. Rumors further claim the device will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Samsung earlier this week handed out invites to the launch of the Galaxy S IV, which will take place at 7 p.m. on March 14 in New York. The launch comes amidst high demand from U.S. carriers for the new phone.

“We were bombarded with requests from U.S. mobile carriers to unveil the Galaxy S IV in the country,” Reuters quoted Samsung mobile chief JK Shin as saying an interview with Korean news site eDaily in Seoul.
