If you’re a bit concerned that your brand-new Apple smartphone or tablet is quickly filling up—or, worse, running out of battery life at the most inopportune times—then Mophie has you covered.

The company today debuted its new Space Packs for the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and iPad mini. Joining them is a new Spacestation charger and storage device, in addition to an upgraded version of its Space application that you use to control everything.

We’ll start with the hardware. The Space Packs(Opens in a new window) look just like the typical phone cases you’re likely to slap around your Apple smartphone to protect it from the occasional (or semi-frequent) fall. Unlike a typical case, they come with built-in storage and a supplemental battery. Your smartphone uses up supplement battery first before it switches over to its internal battery, which gives you approximately double the battery life for your iPhone 6 and an increase of approximately 50 percent for your iPhone 6 Plus. If you’re wrapping a Space Pack around your iPad mini, you’ll also get about double its normal battery life.

Choose a Space Pack with 32, 64, or 128GB of built-in storage; you use the accompanying Space application(Opens in a new window) to transfer files back and forth between the supplemental storage and your actual device.

The iPhone 6 (black or gold) and 6 Plus (black) Space Packs cost $149.95 (32GB), $199.95 (64GB), or $299.95 (128GB). The iPad mini version (black) will set you back $199.95, $299.95, or $399.95 for the same storage sizes.

The Space Pack for iPhone 5 and 5s, released last year, is also still available for $149.95 (16GB), $179.95 (32GB), or $249.95 (64GB), and comes in black, white, blue, red, or gold.

“Redesigned to function without Mophie hardware, Space gives users an easy-to-adopt way of connecting to all their files and media stored on their device from a single app,” Mophie said in a statement. “Space automatically organizes any file downloaded to a user’s device into smart collections, making media easy to manage and simple to find. Users can also wirelessly share photos, videos, documents and music between their mobile device and a Mac or PC via the secure Wi-Fi Space Portal.”

That said, don’t expect your iPhone or iPad to play perfectly with the pack. While you’ll be able to use the Space app to browse through files on your Space Pack, your Apple-specific apps—like Music, for example—won’t be able to access your supplemental storage. And no, you can’t install apps to your Space Pack either. Such are the peculiarities of iOS (and Apple’s restrictions for how third-party devices can access your device’s storage).

Mophie’s new Spacestation(Opens in a new window) device is a standalone power and storage pack that you can carry with you (or leave on your desk) if you need more oomph for your Apple smartphone or tablet, but don’t want to have to deal with a supplemental case.
