Apple released its 2013 holiday shipping deadline schedule(Opens in a new window) earlier this week, which outlines when orders must be placed for standard and next-day shipping in order to receive products by Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Next-day shipping is available on select products with a cut-off date of Dec. 22. The schedule dictates that orders must be placed by midnight on specific dates that vary by product.

The earliest of the deadlines is Dec. 5 for standard shipping of the iPad mini with Retina display ($29.99 at eBay)(Opens in a new window) in engraved and non-engraved configurations. Following closely behind is the Dec. 9 cutoff date for standard shipping of the iPad Air ($389.99 at eBay)(Opens in a new window), engraved and non-engraved. Neither product is eligible for next-day shipping.

For other iPad models, you can still hold off until the third week of December. The iPad mini cut-off date for engraved and non-engraved models is Dec. 18. An engraved iPad mini is not eligible for next-day shipping, so the last day to order is Dec. 18, but non-engraved model orders may be placed as late as Dec. 22 for next-day shipping.

Meanwhile, the cut-off for standard shipping of MacBook Air, Macbook Pro, Mac mini, and iMac products with standard configuration is Dec. 18, and Dec. 22 for next day. Custom configurations of MacBook Air and Mac mini must be ordered by Dec. 16 for standard shipping.

Next-day shipping is not available for the iPhone 5s; orders must be placed by Dec. 12 for standard shipping. Orders of iPhone 5c and iPhone 4s models of all configurations must be placed by Dec. 18 for standard shipping and Dec. 22 for next-day shipping.

As for iPods, engraved and non-engraved iPod orders of all models must be placed by Dec. 18 for standard shipping. Next-day shipping is available on non-engraved iPods only with a cutoff date of Dec. 22.

If you want to make some money off your old iPad before buying a new one, electronics sites like Gazelle(Opens in a new window) offer buyback options. Gazelle, which is free to use, asks questions to determine the condition of the gadget, and provides a buyback price Gazelle will offer for each individual product. Shipping is provided free for all buybacks of $1 or more and all cash reimbursements for products sold through Gazelle can be redeemed in the form of a check, Amazon gift card, or PayPal. Gazelle will pay cash for iPad minis and standard size iPads, generations one through four. Additionally, the site offers a Share Gazelle program(Opens in a new window), which enables consumers to refer a friend and get an additional $10 on their first trade-in.
