The new iPad has arrived and if Twitter is any indication, many an Apple fan is currently gazing at the updated tablet’s Retina display, loading up apps, or frantically flagging down the FedEx guy.

PCMag was at Apple’s flagship store on Fifth Ave this morning at 7am, about an hour before the new iPad went on sale. The line stretched for three blocks and featured Apple fans young and old. Proudly standing at the front of the line was Huntington, N.Y. resident Greg Packer, 48, (left) who said he camped out there for five days, since Monday afternoon.

Walmart got a head start on things last night, opening its doors at midnight, and at least one Twitter user took advantage of that sale – in addition to pre-ordering a tablet. Those who pre-ordered the device saw their iPads arrive throughout the day; ordering online now currently involves a 2-3 week wait.

Most users who nabbed a new iPad today were most impressed by the device’s updated Retina display. “My new iPad is so beautiful. It is more beautiful than reality. I shall no longer require contact with the outside world,” one Twitter user joked.

Others were enjoying a speed bump, thanks to the tablet’s 4G capabilities, while even more took the time to brag about sending their “first tweet from my new iPad.”

Apple unveiled the new iPad last week during a press event in San Francisco. The updated tablet includes a Retina Display, 4G LTE connectivity, an improved camera, and the new A5X processor with a quad-core GPU, among other things.
