The new Retina iPad mini has arrived at PCMag.com, so we unboxed it. Check out the video below for a quick look at what’s in Apple’s typically minimalist box.
The iPad mini arrived on Nov. 12 as a surprise; most analysts had thought it was coming to market on Nov. 21. Apple’s 7.9-inch tablet is just an iPad Air shrunken down. Aside from the smaller size and lighter 12-ounce weight, all of the specs are the same as on the larger iPad Air.
Like the air, the mini comes in various configurations. The base configuration is 16GB and Wi-Fi for $399. You can bump up the memory as far as 128GB and add a universal cellular modem, which works on any U.S. carrier. Fully kitted out, the tablet can cost up to $829.
You can read our initial iPad mini hands on or our full iPad Air review($389.99 at eBay)(Opens in a new window) to get an idea of what to expect from this tablet. We’re testing it right now, and we’ll have a review up soon.
