Topping tech headlines over the long holiday weekend, an original Apple I computer, signed by co-founder Steve Wozniak, earned a whopping $671,000 in an auction that ended Saturday.

One of 46 known units still in existence, the auctioned-off system came with a letter from Steve Jobs, and earned $31,000 more than a similar Apple I that the same auction house sold in November. The fully functioning 1976 Apple I computer had a minimum sales price of $116,000, and the auction house estimated that it would fetch anywhere from $260,000 to $400,000.

Meanwhile, Samsung will hold an event in London on June 20 to show off what’s next for its Galaxy and Ativ brands. Those not in the U.K. can watch the event live on YouTube at 2 p.m. Eastern. Samsung unveiled the Ativ moniker at IFA 2012 with a Windows Phone, as well as a Windows 8-based convertible laptop/tablet and standalone tablet. Its more well-known Galaxy lineup recently added the Galaxy S 4 smartphone, as well as the Galaxy Tab 3 and Galaxy Note 8.0. Stay tuned on June 20 to find out what’s next for the tech giant.

In other news, Microsoft is in the middle of a dispute over the ownership of two domain names related to its recently announced next-gen gaming console, the Xbox One. The names xboxone.com and xboxone.net were claimed in late Dec. 2011 by a London-based man. Redmond filed a complaint two days after the public debut of its new console, but in order to gain control of the domains it must prove that they are “identical” or “confusingly similar” to a Microsoft trademark, that the owner of said domain names don’t have a right to the trademark, and that the domain names were registered in “bad faith.” For more, see Microsoft’s Xbox One: What You Need to Know.
