Angry Birds fans can get everything from t-shirts and phone cases to plush toys, posters, and even cake toppers to show their love for the pig-popping game. But many of those outside of game developer Rovio’s home country of Finland have been deprived of at least one piece of Angry Birds merchandise: soda. Now that’s about to change.

Rovio has expanded its best selling Angry Birds soft drinks to Russia, Australia, New Zealand, and Spain, according to The Next Web(Opens in a new window). The game maker also plans to bring its soda to the U.K. this year.

Angry Birds soda is already a hit in Finland, where it’s reportedly the top-selling drink, even outselling Coke and Pepsi. It currently comes in four flavors: Tropic (tropical fruit-flavor), Paradise (mandarin and pineapple), Lagoon (apple and pear), and Comet (orange and cola).

Rovio’s “Mighty Eagle” Peter Vesterbacka confirmed the soda expansion to The Next Web at the BlackBerry 10 launch event this week, where he was announcing the availability of Angry Birds: Star Wars for the platform. There’s no word yet as to whether the fruit-flavored beverages will arrive in the U.S., but Vesterbacka said Rovio will consider launching on a “market-by-market” basis, according to the report.

“Right now, we are looking at the U.K., so that should happen over the next few months,” he told the news outlet. “We want to find the right partners on the distribution side in various markets, so we will look to launch market by market. Sales in Russia are off to a really, really good start, which highlights how well the Angry Birds brand works with different products.”

Meanwhile, Rovio ended 2012 on a high note, logging 263 million monthly active users in December. Overall, the company saw more than 1 billion downloads during the year, 30 million of which came during Christmas week alone.
