IGN today released an exclusive trailer(Opens in a new window) for Bethesda’s The Evil Within — the first game from Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks studio.

The new survival horror game, from Resident Evil creator Tango Gameworks, is expected to arrive on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, and other next-generation consoles in 2014.

“We’re incredibly proud to announce The Evil Within,” Mikami told IGN. “My team and I are committed to creating an exciting new franchise, providing fans the perfect blend of horror and action.”

Bethesda teased the new title earlier this week via a six-second looping Vine video(Opens in a new window), which some suspected was a first glimpse at the studio’s Fallout series. It was confirmed today that the barbed wire and spinning record are actually part of The Evil Within game.

The trailer shows someone crafting his own barbed wire, shots of a man inlaid with pieces of glass, a four-armed creature lurking in the shadows, and a human who’s head has been replaced with a metal box overflowing with tentacles.

Initially codenamed “Zwei,” according to Polygon(Opens in a new window), the game is directed by “the father of survival horror” Mikami, and boasts “highly crafted environments, horrifying anxiety, and an intricate story weave[d] together to create an immersive world that will bring players to the height of tension,” the official website(Opens in a new window) said.

Tango Gameworks announced in April 2012 that developers were working on a new survival horror game, initially described as “the realization of pure survival horror, an experience … that pushes the limits of fear and exhileration,” Polygon said.

Mikami founded Tango Gameworks in 2010, before it was acquired by ZeniMax Media, parent company of Bethesda Softworks.
