Casual game producer Big Fish and software maker BlueStacks have joined forces to bring Android games to PC and Mac users.
Android game developers creating games for Big Fish can now incorporate Big Fish’s ecommerce API, powered by BlueStacks, in order to make their games playable on PCs and Macs within the Big Fish PC and Mac app store.
“This is a win for both our customers and game developers,” Big Fish CEO Paul Thelen said in a statement. “Android developers can, for the first time, access a huge player base through Big Fish’s global PC and Mac app store.”
“Our customers on PC and Mac will now be able to enjoy many new games previously not available to them, including hundreds of hit free-to-play games not supported natively on PC or Mac,” Thelen said.
“This deal is a huge win for mobile developers who want to offer their games to PC or Mac players without having to do any work,” BlueStacks CEO Rosen Sharma said in a statement. “There is no one bigger in the casual gaming space than Big Fish and there are many developers that we have worked with in the past interested in this new market opportunity.”
In June 2012, BlueStacks launched its Android App Player, which lets Apple computer owners access apps in the Google Play Store and install them on any Mac laptop or desktop for free.
A month earlier, BlueStacks unveiled its GamePop console and subscription service, which lets consumers play Android games on the TV. The $100 machine comes with a $6.99-per-month subscription, opening the door to $250 worth of games, which will be refreshed over time.
