Evil will be reborn this September when Blizzard releases(Opens in a new window) Diablo III for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gaming consoles.
On Sept. 3, the popular good-versus-evil game will make its global console debut, bringing custom-tailored action, dynamic camera perspectives, and a new user interface and control system “that make vanquishing evil feel like second nature,” Blizzard said.
Select retailers are now taking pre-orders for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game, which retails for $59.99. All orders will arrive with a redeemable key for the in-game-only bonus Infernal Helm, which provides an experience point boost to any character wearing it, and “looks sweet as hell on all five mortal heroes of Sanctuary,” the game maker said.
Check with your local retailer for more details, as some will also offer additional limited-edition pre-order bonuses to customers.
From the comfort of their living room couch, players will step into the role of one of five iconic characters barbarian, witch doctor, wizard, monk, demon hunter and journey through the Burning Hells in a quest to save the world of Sanctuary.
From the town of New Tristram to the Diamond Gates of the High Heavens, gamers can play alone, or in a party of up to four, via same-screen local cooperative play or online with the PlayStation Network or Microsoft’s Xbox Live.
“Playing Diablo III on a big screen with your friends brings a whole new level of intensity to athe game, and with all of the control and interface adaptations we’ve made, it’s extremely fun to play on PS3 and Xbox 360,” Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said in a statement.
Developers even threw in some of the recent content and design updates made to the PC version, building what Morhaime called “an epic Diablo gaming experience.”
Diablo III originally hit Windows and Mac computers in May 2012, and 24 hours later became the fastest-selling PC game of all time. As of the end of last year, the title had sold more than 12 million copies worldwide.

Blizzard today also confirmed(Opens in a new window) that the company will make an appearance at next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in L.A., providing a first look at the multiplayer Diablo III on PS3 and Xbox 360. Those who can’t make it to the Los Angeles Convention Center between June 11 to 13 can follow the action online and via Blizzard’s official Facebook(Opens in a new window) and Twitter(Opens in a new window) accounts.
