Topping tech headlines Thursday, Dish Network’s Hopper got the last laugh when the Consumer Electronic Association (CEA) — host of CES — announced that the DVR did in fact win the Best of CES award.

The drama began early last month when CNET, which partnered with CEA to hand out the accolades, initially selected the Dish Hopper as the trade show’s best gadget, but was then ordered by parent company CBS to rescind the award since CBS is caught in a legal fight with Dish. On Thursday, though, the CEA overturned that decision when it named the Dish Hopper and the Razer Edge Gaming Tablet as Best of Show devices.

Meanwhile, gifting just got a little easier with Facebook’s new Facebook Card — “a new type of gift card.” The social network launched the reusable gift card that can be loaded with money for multiple retail stores, currently limited to Jamba Juice, Olive Garden, Sephora, and Target. Select a gift via the site’s Gift Cards & Digital category, then the recipient will be notified instantly and will receive a physical Facebook Card in the mail a few days later. The cards are rolling out gradually to U.S. users.

In other news, Grand Theft Auto fans will have to wait a few more months for the next installment of the popular video game. According to publisher Rockstar Games, the follow-up to 2008’s Grand Theft Auto IV will be available for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this fall — later than the expected spring-2013 timeframe, “in order to allow additional development time,” the game maker said. GTA V returns to Los Santos, “a sprawling sun-soaked metropolis full of self-help gurus, starlets and fading celebrities, once the envy of the Western world, now struggling to stay afloat in an era of economic uncertainty and cheap reality TV.”
