Though we’re months away from the June release of The Elder Scrolls Online, PlayStation 4 fans are champing at the bit for more game details.

?wmode=transparent”One question we’ve been frequently hearing is whether or not a PlayStation Plus membership will be required to play The Elder Scrolls Online on PS4,” Games Director Matt Firor wrote in a blog post Q&A(Opens in a new window).

The answer: No. According to Firor, a PS Plus membership is not necessary; gamers will only be asked to pay the same $15 monthly subscription that PC and Mac users do, and nothing more.

The massively multiplayer online version of the popular computer game pits players against Molag Bal, the God of Schemes, in an effort to reclaim their lost soul.

For the first time in Elder Scrolls history—including titles like Skyrim, Oblivion, and Morrowind—the game expanded from its single-player roots to go online as an MMO undertaking. But even the popular Sony PlayStation 4 can’t handle worldwide gameplay. So, PS4 players will be relegated to their geographic boundaries, on either the European or North American megaserver.

There is no word yet on when the PS4 beta invites will be sent, but Firor told gamers to keep an eye on elderscrollsonline.com(Opens in a new window) and the PlayStation blog “later this year.”

He also doled out details about the DualShock 4 touchpad and in-game controls, hard drive space, and multiplayer experiences.

Check out the game in action in the previously released trailer video below.
