When Apple introduced its colorful iPhone 5c smartphone last month, consumers were concerned about how to show off their plastic pink, blue, green, yellow, or white device while keeping it safe.
Enter the Apple iPhone 5c case: All the additional protection you need without covering up your smartphone’s colorful backing. Now, however, that case also serves as an interactive game board.
iOS 7 users who download Flipcase can, well, flip their case and turn the iPhone 5c into a colorful, unofficial game of Connect Four.
After launching the application, take the case, flip it over, and attach it to the front of the phone’s screen. Find a friend, tap through the holes to play, and get four in a row to win. Shake your phone to reset the board.
Flipcase(Opens in a new window) has already garnered positive feedback, boasting a 4.5-star rating in the App Store, and rave customer reviews.
“Thank you for making this game!” one user wrote. “Beautifully thought out! Simple, yet out of the box! Love it! Friends love it! Brings back memories. Now let’s update with the ability to choose background and dots colors to match my cases.”
The original Connect Four was a Milton Bradley smash since 1974, allowing for hours of fun for kids dropping plastic tokens into an upright game board. A number of mobile-based games have been released, including Four in a Row and Super Connect 4 for Android, as well as Connect 4 and Four in a Row for iOS. Flipcase is the first to utilize an accessory to play.
Flipcase does not appear to be affiliated with Milton Bradley, and (to help it avoid a licensing battle, I’m sure), the game does not mention Connect Four.
Flipcase is currently available for free download(Opens in a new window) in the Apple iTunes Store. Check out the Flipcase video below for a look at the game in action.
