Looking a new mobile game? Halfbrick, the studio behind Fruit Ninja, has unveiled the trailer for its newest game, Fish Out Of Water(Opens in a new window).
“Fish Out Of Water tells the story of an adventurous cast of characters as they search to see the world from a whole new perspective,” Halfbrick said. “These daring companions must juggle constantly changing weather conditions, challenging obstacles and a fussy judging panel to skip across the water in search of perfection!”
The game is “surfacing soon” on the Apple App Store, Halfbrick said.
In a video teaser (below), underwater creatures are seen flying through the air above the water, earning points and special powers for captured items. There’s Olympus, Rocket, and Errol the fish, Finlay the dolphin, and Micro the whale. The Brothers, meanwhile, can split off into four, menacing sharks.
The video says users can play with friends and share successes, presumably to social networks like Twitter and Facebook.
In a hands on with Fish Out Of Water(Opens in a new window) at the Game Developers Conference, AppAdvice.com said the point of the game is to fling the game’s characters as far as possible. You can pick up some extra distance with “boosts” earned along the way. At the end, a panel of crab judges will rate your performance. Each character, meanwhile, performs differently – Finlay the dolphin will dive into the water – and changing weather conditions will affect performance, according to AppAdvice, which said the app will sell for $0.99.
Halfbrick also produces Jetpack Joyride(Opens in a new window), which is available on Android and iOS.
In other gaming news, PopCap this week announced(Opens in a new window) a limited launch of Plants vs. Zombies Adventures beta, available on Facebook. Wider availability is expected this spring, while an official Plants vs. Zombies 2 app is coming out this summer.
