Topping tech headlines on Tuesday was the shutdown of Irrational Games—the influential game development studio behind the BioShock franchise.
Co-founder Ken Levine, who started the studio in 1997 with fellow Looking Glass Studio alums Jonathan Chey and Robert Fermier, announced the news on Tuesday. Levine said he would “be starting a smaller, more entrepreneurial endeavor at Take-Two,” keeping about 15 members of the Irrational staff on for this project.
In other news, Google is making a better-late-than-never push to remind Glass users to not be “creepy.” The search giant posted some tips on how best to use Glass, encouraging wearers not to “Glass-out,” “rock Glass while doing high-impact sports,” “wear it and expect to be ignored,” or “be creepy or rude.”
Meanwhile, HTC on Monday sent invitations to its next flagship smartphone announcement, occurring at two simultaneous events in New York and London on March 25. The invitation is light on details, though recent rumors suggest the HTC One follow-up, codenamed M8, will have a brushed metal body with a 5-inch 1080p display, 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, and run Google’s latest mobile OS, Android 4.4 KitKat.
The phone maker on Monday also announced the new “HTC Advantage” program, which offers free cracked screen replacements and guarantees Android updates for two years.
