While everyone else on the morning commute works through another level of Candy Crush Saga or Temple Run on their smartphone, Google Glass wearers can now play tennis or shoot at clay pigeons.

A group of Google Glass developers today launched a series of mini games meant to showcase what the futuristic specs can do.

?wmode=transparent”With tons of tiny sensors and a screen that fits neatly above the eye, Glass is an exciting new place to play,” the developers’ blog said(Opens in a new window). “We hacked together five simple games that experiment with unique features of Glass and demonstrate some of the possibilities for gaming.”

Built upon functions like voice-activation commands and sensors, the titles provide visually simple and straightforward gameplay—quick hits to keep users occupied during a few minutes of downtime.

Slight head movements dictate whether you win or lose at Tennis and Balance (pictured), two titles that require precise head-eye coordination and poise to swat at a flying ball or keep a precarious pile of rectangles from falling over.

Clay Shooter, meanwhile, focuses the player’s attention into the sky. Say “Pull!” and the game launches a clay pigeon (in this case, an orange circle) into the direction you’re looking. Steady the target over the shape, and use the voice command “Bang” to shoot it out of the sky. Be careful about the level of your voice and where you choose to play—shouting at your Glass headset in a crowded room could cause a panic.

Google Glass Mini Game Shape Splitter

If you’re willing to look silly but prefer to do it quietly, try Shape Splitter (right), which flings a colorful shape across the screen for you to swat at; Glass detects “slices” when the player moves their hand in front of the Glass camera.

The most modest of the bunch is Matcher, a memory game with a twist. Using the gyroscope and accelerometer, the headset follows the position of the wearer’s head to match two cards with the same color and shape hidden behind them.

Take a look at all five mini games in Google’s video below. Glass owners can download the games by logging into the Glassware store online.

Last summer, mobile app developer Brick Simple built a multi-player “Battleship-like” game, dubbed GlassBattle—playable on the spectacles. And just this week, Google announced that it will start selling prescription versions of Glass via its new Titanium Collection.
