Amazon just made it easier to send songs to a nearby Alexa speaker.
The most recent update to the Amazon Music app activates Alexa Cast, which will let you send, or cast, any song you’re listening to on your iOS or Android device to an Alexa speaker, like the Amazon Echo ($99.99 at Amazon)(Opens in a new window) . If Alexa has been enabled on a third-party smart speaker, like those from Denon, Sonos, or Bose, you can cast songs there, too.
Right now, this only works with Prime Music and Amazon Music Unlimited, but Amazon says support for other music-streaming services will be added in the future. On Android, Amazon Music listeners can also cast to any Chromecast device; iOS users can send songs to Airplay-enabled devices.
If you have a Chromecast ($23.97 at Walmart)(Opens in a new window) , the Alexa Cast process will be familiar. Here’s how to get started.
