The Dramm ColorStorm 9-Pattern Turret Sprinkler is basically nine sprinklers in one. With nine different sprinkler patterns, you’re bound to find one (or more) that works for you and your garden or yard.

The powder-coated metal comes in six different color options, like all of the Dramm ColorStorm products. You could even match it with the same color Dramm ColorStorm hose if you wanted to!

If you like having a lot of options, especially for smaller or unusually-shaped areas, this could be the sprinkler for you.

Watch the video to see the sprinkler in action, see what we thought, and decide if it could work for you and your yard or garden.

Packaging

The Dramm ColorStorm 9-Pattern Turret Sprinkler is sold with no surrounding packaging. Instead, a sticker on the back gives instructions and warnings. (Note: stickers should be removed before use).

Parts

The Dramm ColorStorm 9-Turret Sprinkler has a solid metal base, and an easily-adjustable “pattern dial” (also called a “turret”) made of plastic.

Nine different patterns to choose from on the pattern dial

The nine patterns to choose from are:

  • square
  • small circle
  • large circle
  • rounded square
  • rectangle
  • half circle
  • narrow rectangle
  • outer ring
  • half square

The nine patterns include a square and rectangle pattern similar to what you would get with an oscillating sprinkler. However, coverage in the square or rectangular pattern isn’t as consistent or widespread as with an oscillating sprinkler so if you’re looking for a sprinkler that covers a large area, such as a lawn, this wouldn’t be the best choice.

The hose connector is solid brass but we found it quite difficult to grip and attach to the hose. A larger, rubberized or plastic piece would have been preferable just to make it easier to grip.

There’s a decent washer in the hose connector, as well as a sieve to keep dirt and debris out of the sprinkler and its moving parts.

Uses and Limitations

The Dramm ColorStorm 9-Pattern Turret Sprinkler is fun and functional. With so many unique patterns to choose from, you’re sure to find one for your yard or garden. The sprinkler works well on low water pressure, so if you have well water you’ll still get quite a bit of water flow (sometimes closer to a mist) from this sprinkler.

Match the pattern you want to use with this arrow

To adjust the spray pattern, simply match the pattern you want to use with the arrow located above the hose connector. It’s not easy to see the arrow but you’ll hear the sprinkler click into place so you’ll know when the turret is properly positioned.

As there is no on/off switch, you either have to choose the pattern before turning on the water at the spigot, or you will get wet (like we did) changing from one pattern to another. Which isn’t the worst during a hot summer day, right?

Speaking of hot summer days, this sprinkler is also fun for kids to run through!

This sprinkler is best used in a smaller area, maybe for a particular plant or part of your garden that you want to make sure gets enough water. Or maybe a section of your lawn that gets more sun than the rest, or something recently seeded. Because the spray pattern is highly adjustable, it will work in any shaped space other than a wedge or pie-shaped area (there’s no spray pattern for that shape).

Warranty

Dramm has a limited lifetime warranty on all its products against defects in material and workmanship.

Recommendation

The Dramm ColorStorm 9-Pattern Turret Sprinkler is a great sprinkler for multiple uses. It has a sturdy base and an easy-to-use plastic turret to switch between nine patterns. It’s sturdy and should last for several seasons. It would work best in smaller areas rather than wide, expansive lawns (unless you’re willing to move the sprinkler several times to cover the area). This sprinkler works well in low water pressure situations, so if you have well water it might be a good option for you.

Where to Buy

The Dramm ColorStorm 9 Pattern Turret Sprinkler is available in six different color options from Amazon, which is your best bet for finding a specific color. You may also be able to find it at your local independent garden center (but call before you go because they may not have the style or color you want).
