Between shuttling the kids to dance practice and sports games, finishing those reports before your annual review, and catching up with the latest episodes of Mr. Robot, organizing and sharing photos is likely not a top priority.

But that doesn’t mean friends and family aren’t still waiting on images from your Halloween block party or the school’s costume parade.

Enter Facebook Messenger’s new Photo Magic feature, which scans new pictures and, using facial recognition, gives users the option to send those photos to the friends featured in them.

“People send more than 9.5 billion photos through Messenger every month, but sending photos of friends, and particularly groups of friends, is still too complicated,” a Facebook spokeswoman told PCMag.

Facebook is now testing Photo Magic in Australia on iOS and Android devices; if all goes well, the program is expected to roll out “soon” to U.S. users.

According to TechCrunch(Opens in a new window), the new function shows users a preview of your image, possible recipients, and an option to include a note. Click send, and Photo Magic sends the picture as a Messenger group thread to everyone tagged. All future snapshots will automatically prompt you to share them with friends.

Facebook will let camera shy users opt out of being recognized by Photo Magic in their privacy controls(Opens in a new window).

Facebook introduced a similar function in June via its standalone Moments app, which groups pics on your phone based on when they were taken and which friends are in them. You can then tell the service to sync those images with specific people, and hope they reciprocate. Moments also eliminates the tedious process of tagging; in-app algorithms do all the work for you, and promise secure sharing among users.
