Pinterest is kicking off the season with its first Holiday Giving Guide(Opens in a new window) a one-stop shop full of ideas for everyone on your list, and then some.
With gifts for gym rats, anglophiles, science lovers, hockey moms, stenographers, the owl-obsessed, roller derby girls, and pretty much everyone in between, the guide features pins hand-picked by some notable names and very creative pinners.
You can show off your shopping savvy by picking presents curated by Queen Latifah (Fun gifts for white elephants(Opens in a new window)), Mariel Hemingway (Sporty gifts for athletes(Opens in a new window)), and Andrew Zimmerman of the Travel Channel’s Bizarre Foods (Gourmet gifts for foodies(Opens in a new window)).
Or you may wish to pick from specially crafted boards organized by likes and hobbies, such as gear gifts for motorcyclists(Opens in a new window), gizmo gifts for geeks(Opens in a new window), and great gifts for homebodies(Opens in a new window), designed by experts in their respective fields.
“Wait, there’s more!” Katie Garlinghouse, head of community marketing, wrote in a blog post(Opens in a new window) listing the details of the Holiday Giving Guide.
Pinterest has also introduced an improved Holiday Gifts feed, where users can browse products from top retailers and filter by “gifts for her,” “gifts for him,” and “gifts for kids,” to discover the best products for your loved ones.
The social cork board also has a little something for its users: an additional three secret boards, boosting the total to six, and making more room to play Secret Santa and keep your best ideas under wraps.
The feature was first unveiled in early November 2012, when the site slowly rolled out a test to allow users to create three secret boardsperfect for keeping holiday gift ideas hidden. To add a secret board, just visit your profile and scroll down to the bottom, then click “Create a Secret Board.” Or, click “Add+” in the top right corner of the Pinterest page, select “Create Board,” and turn the secret button on.
“We hope these help you become the best gift-giver around. Happy season of Pinspiration!” Garlinghouse said.
Last year, Pinterest launched its 30 Days of Pinspiration a feature which unveiled a new series of holiday boards each day, from Nov. 20 through the New Year. On Day One, talk show host Katie Couric shared her favorite Thanksgiving memories, as well as her plans for the year’s holiday. Over the next 29 days, a different mystery person or organization revealed their boards, including Pinterest users from the NBA, the U.S. Marine Corps, Starbucks, DIY-er Jordan Ferney, and Paula Deen.
