Move over, MTV Video Music Awards. There’s a new music awards show in town, courtesy of YouTube.

The online video-streaming giant on Monday announced(Opens in a new window) plans to host its first-ever YouTube Music Awards on Nov. 3, “honoring the artists and songs that you have turned into hits over the past year.” The event will feature Lady Gaga, Eminem, and Arcade Fire along with some of YouTube’s biggest starts, like Lindsey Stirling(Opens in a new window) and CDZA(Opens in a new window), who will perform from Seoul, Moscow, London, and Rio. The actual show will take place in New York City and be live-streamed online.

YouTube has tapped music video visionary Spike Jonze as creative director of the show, and actor Jason Schwartzman will host. The best part is that you — the fans — get to choose the winners. Later this month, YouTube will announce Music Awards nominations based on the videos you watched and shared most this year.

“We’ll then call on you to determine the songs and artists honored, by sharing the nominees across social media so the awards are judged in full view of everyone,” YouTube said.

In the days leading up to the Nov. 3 event, nominees will share new content on their YouTube channels, including music videos, covers, parodies, concerts, interviews, and fan videos. VICE and Sunset Lane Entertainment are acting as executive producers for the show, YouTube said.

The new music awards show comes as YouTube gears up to revamp its comments section to weed out trolls and nonsensical chatter. Going forward, the more substantial comments will float to the top.
