Sick of fumbling with keys? August Home’s new smart locks can help you out.

The company’s $149 Smart Lock, $279 Smart Lock Pro + Connect, and $199 Doorbell Cam Pro all include DoorSense, an integrated sensor that can tell you if your door is open or closed.

“Many people leave home thinking their door is securely closed and locked, when in reality, the door may actually still be slightly open with the deadbolt not properly engaged,” August wrote in a blog post(Opens in a new window). “With DoorSense, you’ll have peace of mind in knowing your door is both closed and locked. If you happen to accidentally leave the door open in the morning, running late for work, you’ll get alerted through the August app.”

Earlier August Smart Locks can be set to automatically lock after a certain amount of time. The new generation features Instant Auto-Lock, a feature that can be set to “instantly” lock on its own when the door is closed. This way, you’ll never forget to lock the door when entering or exiting your home.

The new Smart Lock features a “more compact industrial design” than earlier models and is aimed at those who are “exploring the benefits of smart home access,” August said.

The new Pro model boasts support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Apple’s HomeKit, and Z-Wave Plug, and comes bundled with the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge, which lets you control and monitor your front door wherever you are with a smartphone. It also features a new beta service called Active Monitoring, which “sends smarter alerts” about the activity at your door, August said.

In the “coming months,” you’ll also be able to set alerts for specific activities, like when your kids are scheduled to arrive home from school, and recieve a notification when they make it. You’ll also be able to set it up to be notified when your cleaning person or maintenance tech, for instance, enters or leaves your house.

The Doorbell Cam Pro lets you see and speak with visitors at your door from a smartphone. There’s also a built-in flood light, enabling color video at night, which can also be motion-triggered to scare away baddies.

The new Smart Lock(Opens in a new window) and Pro(Opens in a new window) models are available now. The Doorbell Cam Pro is available for pre-order(Opens in a new window) and slated to begin shipping Oct. 10.
