Dyson’s latest gadget is doing triple duty.
The company on Tuesday unveiled the “Pure Hot+Cool Link” purifier heater, which offers “intelligent” air purification all year round, plus “fast heating in winter” and “powerful personal cooling in summer.” The $600 machine automatically purifies the pollutants it detects in your home while simultaneously reporting live air quality data to the Dyson Link App.
Think the air in your home is clean? Think again. Dyson, citing stats from the World Health Organization, points out that indoor air pollution can be “up to five times worse than outside.” That could mean that you’re breathing in things like formaldehyde found in textile-covered furniture; carbon and coal dust from wood-burning fireplaces; “volatile organic compounds” from scented candles, air fresheners, and cleaning products along with pollen, dead skin, and even “disintegrated feces” — on a daily basis.
An air purifier can help. Dyson’s new Pure Hot+Cool Link uses a 360-degree glass HEPA filter to remove from the air 99.7 percent of particles as small as 0.3 microns, the company promises. Dyson said a team of 25 engineers developed the new machine, which oscillates to “project a powerful stream of purified air” across the whole room while keeping the place your target temperature — warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
On top of all that, the machine keeps you in the loop, sending air quality reports to the Dyson Link app for iOS or Android. From the app, you can keep track of your home’s air quality history and monitor the situation during “peak pollution times,” like pollen season or while cleaning or cooking.

The Pure Hot+Cool Link will be available on Dyson’s website Sept. 6, and in retail stores Sept. 18. At $600, it’s not exactly cheap, but it does come with a two-year parts and labor warranty just in case it craps out.
