Amidst news about iOS 9 and Mac OS X El Capitan, Apple today also showed off an update to Apple Watch software that will arrive this fall.

Developers, however, can try it out now, Cupertino said at its Wordwide Developer Conference in San Francisco. Apple declined to provide details about how Apple Watch ($300.00 at eBay)(Opens in a new window) sales are going, though Kevin Lynch, Apple’s vice president of technology, touted the fact that the company is offering an updated watchOS only several weeks after the wearable’s official arrival.

New watchOS features include:

• Turn personal photos into watch faces, or videos into 24-hour timelapse faces.
• Explore upcoming (or previous) events, weather, and other activities via the Time Travel feature.
• Respond to mail with dictation, Smart Replies, or emoji.
• Create multiple friends screens with up to 12 friends.
• Use several different colors for Digital Touch doodles.
• Nightstand Mode transforms Apple Watch into a bedside alarm clock; the Digital Crown and side button are the snooze and off buttons.
• Use loyalty cards with Apple Pay.
• Tap into transit directions on Apple Maps in supported cities. 
• Data from third-party fitness apps will sync with Move and Exercise goals.
• Activation lock security will work on Apple Watch.
