If you don’t have Apple’s iOS 8 running on your iPhone or iPad yet, you’re in the minority.
Six months after its release, iOS 8 is now powering more than three-quarters (77 percent) of iOS devices, according to new stats on Apple’s developer website.
At this point, just 20 percent of iOS users are still rocking out with iOS 7, and a mere 3 percent are hanging on to even older versions of Cupertino’s mobile operating system.
To put this into perspective, consider that Google’s latest figures(Opens in a new window) show the most recent version of Android5.0 Lollipopis now running on just 3.3 percent of smartphones and tablets, nearly six months after it was released.
More than 42 percent of Android users still have some version of Jelly Bean (4.1 through 4.3) while 40.9 percent are on KitKat (version 4.4).
Apple’s new figures come after the company earlier this month released iOS 8.2, which includes improvements to the Health app and support for the Apple Watch, along with some stability enhancements and bug fixes.
Meanwhile on the iOS front, Cupertino also recently opened a public beta for its upcoming iOS 8.3.
The impending software has already been in the hands of developers since last month, but Apple invited those who helped test out OS X Yosemite last year to try the new iOS variant.
