Google is expanding access to its version of Facebook’s Instant Articles.
As Recode reports(Opens in a new window), Google will soon let any site run the code for Google Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), not just publishers, which should produce a speedier Web experience. A developer preview is live now; the full version arrives at a later date.
AMP debuted last fall. “We want webpages with rich content like video, animations and graphics to work alongside smart ads, and to load instantaneously,” the company said at the time. “We also want the same code to work across multiple platforms and devices so that content can appear everywhere in an instant — no matter what type of phone, tablet, or mobile device you’re using.”

Nearly 30 publishers signed on at launch, and they have since been able to add their stories to Google’s “Top Stories” carousel, Recode says. Going forward, companies can also take advantage of AMP alongside media outlets.
