Google’s Chrome has some new features, the search giant announced Wednesday.

Google updated(Opens in a new window) Chrome for iOS with improvements under the hood(Opens in a new window) that it says will make it faster and less prone to crashes. In fact, users can expect to see the Chrome crash rate fall by 70 percent on iOS, though Google did not say how often Chrome typically fails.

Even when counting the ‘Aw, Snap!’ page shown when the renderer crashes, there’s still a big improvement,” Google said.

“Switching to background tabs will cause pages to reload 25 percent less often,” the company added. “JavaScript speed on benchmarks such as Octane(Opens in a new window) is an order of magnitude faster, and scrolling is smoother and more responsive.”

Google also announced a Data Saver extension(Opens in a new window) for the desktop, a feature that arrived on Chrome for Android in December.

It reduces the data your computer needs to access websites using the same compression technology as Chrome for Android’s Data Saver mode,” Google said. “Clicking on ‘Details’ will tell how much data you’ve saved, and which websites are scooping up most data.”

The updated Chrome for iOS(Opens in a new window) is available now in the App Store.
