If your Web bookmarks are one big unorganized mess, you’re not alone, and Google wants to help you sort that out.

Google+ user Florian Kiersch last month revealed(Opens in a new window) that the Web giant is experimenting with a new bookmarking feature, dubbed Google Stars, which will let you “star” webpages right from Chrome’s address bar, then organize them into groups, and even search content within the saved pages. Now, Kiersch has posted a video(Opens in a new window) (below) that show screenshots of the Google Stars splash screen and landing pages, and provided further details about how the service may work.

According to the video, pages that you star would appear as an “image-rich grid” and be automatically organized into filters, letting you more easily “discover patterns in your content.” You’ll also be able to add notes to your saved websites in grid view, as well as drag and drop stars to create your own folders like “recipes” or “YouTube cat videos.”

All your stars will be private by default, but you’ll be able to make specific folders public and share them with a link. The service will also have some handy Google search features built in, letting you easily find pages you have starred with the help of auto complete and suggestions.

At this point, it appears that the Google Stars interface is still “under heavy development,” meaning current functionality is limited and may change, Kiersch said. Google is expected to unveil the new bookmarking service at its upcoming I/O conference, Kiersch said, which kicks off on June 25 in San Francisco. Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
