Sprint LG G2, More Getting KitKat Update

Owners of the LG G2 on Sprint can now join their friends on AT&T and T-Mobile for a KitKat party.

Sprint on Monday revealed(Opens in a new window) it has begun rolling out the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat, to LG’s current flagship smartphone. The updated OS brings a host of new features, including touch-screen improvements, updated NFC architecture, secure app sandboxes, low-power audio playback, HDR+ photography, and full-screen wallpapers with preview.

Sprint warned(Opens in a new window) that the software update may take several days to reach your device. If you just can’t wait, you can manually check for the update by visiting the Settings app > System Updates > Update LG software > Check now. Besides all the goodies that come along with KitKat, the release fixes an audio bug affecting Sprint’s Next Radio app.

Both the AT&T and T-Mobile variants of the smartphone have already received the updated OS, but there’s sadly still no word as to when KitKat will arrive for Verizon’s G2 customers. In the meantime, the tasty treat is also making its way to a number of other devices.

KitKat is currently rolling out to the LG G Pad ( at Amazon)(Opens in a new window) in South Korea, and may soon reach users in the U.S. as well, Gotta Be Mobile(Opens in a new window) reported Monday.

Meanwhile, said(Opens in a new window) on its Facebook page yesterday that the original HTC Butterfly will soon receive an upgrade to KitKat, but the phone maker did not offer any specifics as to when that would happen.

In addition, new leaks suggest that the Motorola Droid Razr HD will finally soon receive the updated software, according to mCrunch(Opens in a new window).
