Topping tech headlines on Tuesday, Microsoft revealed the next version of its operating system, and it skipped right over Windows 9 to introduce Windows 10.

The new OS marks Redmond’s most comprehensive platform yet, the company said, with versions of Windows 10 working on devices big and small. An official consumer launch is expected in mid-2015, but Microsoft will release a technical preview today for laptops and desktops so developers can play around with it and provide feedback. In other news, eBay and PayPal will become separate companies in 2015. Despite insisting(Opens in a new window) just several months ago that eBay and PayPal belong together, eBay said today that it now believes the two firms will be more successful on their own. The moves means CEO John Donahoe and CFO Bob Swan will leave their roles and move to board positions once the deal is done. For more, see the video below.

Meanwhile, Pebble slashed the price of its original smartwatch and the Pebble Steel, offering the original device for $99 (previously $149) and the Pebble Steel for $199 (previously $229). Price cuts were also implemented in Europe and the U.K. The cheaper watches also come with Pebble’s new activity-tracking platform that “enables full activity tracking and sleep monitoring” for all Pebble devices.
