Lego and Nintendo are working together again, this time to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Super Mario 64 launching on the Nintendo 64.
A new Lego Super Mario 64 ? Block set(Opens in a new window) is planned for release on Oct. 1 exclusively from Lego’s retail stores and Lego.com, before being offered through other retailers at some point in 2022. The price of owning the block will be $169.99, which means it really has to delivery something special for Lego and Mario fans.
The set consists of a brick-built block that opens up to reveal four microscale levels from the game. The levels Lego chose to recreate are Peach’s Castle, Bob-omb Battlefield, Cool, Cool Mountain, and Lethal Lava Trouble. Accompanying the levels will be microfigures also taken from the game, including Mario, Princess Peach, King Bob-omb, a Chain Chomp, Big Bully, Mr. I, Lakitu, penguin, baby penguin, and others that have yet to be revealed.
“We know how much Super Mario fans have loved the Lego Super Mario experience, and wanted to tap into even more elements of the traditional game play capturing the immersive play experience of Super Mario 64,” said Pablo Gonzalez Gonzalez, Senior Designer at the Lego Group.

The set consists of 2,064 pieces of Lego, with each of the microscale levels needing to be built before the block can be completed. You may remember Lego released Super Mario adventure sets last year with interactive figures, and they have been tied into this set. The interactive Mario and Luigi figures will have some secret reactions available if they “seek out hidden Power Stars.” Apparently details on how to find these Stars will be included with the Block building instructions.
