Lego is celebrating Halloween by adding three new sets based on Luigi’s Mansion, the series in which the titular character is repeatedly duped into visiting haunted properties that he de-ghost-ifies with a flashlight and a special vacuum cleaner, to its lineup of Mario-themed products.
The first Lego Super Mario sets arrived in 2020, and the lineup was expanded in January with the release of six additional products. Now the union between brick builder and brick breaker has produced a trio of sets centered on Luigi instead of his portlier (and more popular) brother.
Lego says players can use an “interactive figure from one of the Starter Courses to bring to life these new challenges that await, and brace for ghostly adventures that feature new immersive sounds and music, which is sure to add extra fun and interactivity.”
These new offerings include a basic Lab and Poltergust Expansion Set ($30), an Entryway Expansion Set ($40), and a top of the line Haunt-and-Seek Expansion Set ($80) that allows players to “create a gem-hunting, ghost-battling level with rotating hallways to explore.”
So far the response to Lego and Nintendo’s announcement seems positive: the company’s website is currently restricting traffic to reduce the strain on its servers, and the new Luigi’s Mansion sets don’t even appear to have been added(Opens in a new window) to it yet, at least at time of writing.

Unfortunately those product pages aren’t the only thing we’ll have to wait for. Lego doesn’t plan to release the new Luigi’s Mansion products until Jan. 1, 2022, so even though the revelation was timed to coincide with Halloween, the sets won’t even arrive by the holiday season. Boo.
