Samsung is having a hard time keeping its big-screen tablet out of the spotlight.
The Samsung Galaxy View has been popping up all over the Internet this week. On Monday, a pre-order page for the tablet was accidentally featured on Adorama and B&H Photo. Although those listings have since been taken down, prominent leaker Evan Blass took to his Twitter account to show off(Opens in a new window) what appear to be marketing images of the device.
The Samsung Galaxy View is rumored to have an 18.4-inch screen and a handle to help users carry it around. According to GSM Arena(Opens in a new window), which spotted the Adorama listing before it was taken down, the tablet sports a full-HD screen and runs a 1.6GHz Exynos 7580 processor. The tablet features 32GB of storage and Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity. Most importantly, it will retail for $600, according to the report.
Samsung teased the Galaxy View during its Unpacked event at the IFA trade show in Berlin last month. A 20-second video (below) suggested the Galaxy View has a cover that becomes a kickstand, and is multimedia-focused rather than productivity-focused.
It’s unclear how big-screen tablets will fare. The tablet market has had a rough year, due in large part to consumers opting for large-screen smartphones, or phablets, as well as 2-in-1 hybrids. Still, there are several larger-screen devices on offer; Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro arrives next month, for example, while the new Surface Pro 4 comes in at 12.3 inches. At 18.4 inches, though, the Galaxy View is more on par with a small all-in-one desktop PC.
Samsung did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
